When it comes to debt, the statute of limitations is the amount of time a creditor can take before asking the court to force you to pay for a debt. The Statute of Limitations on debt in Pennsylvania is four years. Debt collectors do not want you to know this but sometimes debt is just too old to collect. Even so, the debt collector can still file the lawsuit against you, but it’s up to you defend it. If you have not made a payment on the debt in four years, and you are sued, your defense is the debt is too old.
